Smart & Proximity Key Fobs
Smart and proximity keys are the most complex — and the priciest — keys on the road. We program them where the car allows it, and we'll tell you honestly on the phone if yours needs a dealer instead. Call 07425 435697 now — open 24/7.
The cleverest key — and the most expensive to lose
Keyless entry, push-button start, the fob never leaving your pocket: smart keys are brilliant until one goes missing. Then you discover they're also the most complex keys to replace — and the priciest. That's exactly why you want a specialist, not a guess.
We program smart and proximity fobs at your location for most makes. For the few that lock programming behind manufacturer-only systems, we'll tell you on the phone. We'd rather be honest than expensive.
When smart keys go wrong
- Lost smart key. The big one — and the most expensive key to replace. Call us before you call the dealer; we're usually cheaper and faster.
- Water damage. Fobs don't swim. A trip through the washing machine or a drop in a puddle can kill one.
- Proximity entry stopped working. Sometimes it's the fob battery, sometimes desync, sometimes the fob itself. We diagnose before we sell you anything.
What happens when you call
- Tell us the make, model and year.
Smart keys vary enormously — this is the one job where the details really matter.
- We quote — and we're straight with you.
Smart keys vary a lot by make. You'll get the real figure, or an honest "this one needs a dealer".
- We come to you and program the fob.
At your location, coded to your car.
- We test everything.
Keyless entry, push-button start, boot release — every function, proven before you pay.
What it costs
No sugar-coating: smart keys cost more than any other key type. What moves it:
- Make and year — smart keys vary widely. A mainstream fob and a premium one are different jobs.
- Whether any working key remains — all-keys-lost on a smart key is the priciest combination there is.
- Dealer-only security — on some newer models, only the manufacturer can do it. We'll tell you honestly if that's you.
Exact price on the phone. If we can't do it, we'll say so — and we won't charge you for finding out.
Smart key questions, answered
Why is a smart key so much more expensive?
The fob itself costs more, and the programming is more involved — keyless systems have more security to satisfy than a basic transponder. You're paying for parts and expertise, not magic.
My keyless entry stopped working but the buttons do. What gives?
Often the fob battery is weak — proximity needs more power than a button press. Try a fresh battery first; if that doesn't fix it, call us and we'll diagnose it properly.
Can you do all smart keys, or are there exceptions?
Most, but not all. A few very new models restrict programming to manufacturer systems. Tell us the make, model and year and you'll get a straight yes or no on the phone.
Is it true thieves can relay-attack keyless cars?
Relay theft is real, especially on keyless cars. A signal-blocking pouch (Faraday pouch) for your fob at home is cheap protection. When we program your new key, ask us — we're happy to talk through it.
