Locked out? Here's what to do
First: don't try to force it. Coat hangers, screwdrivers and wedged doors cause exactly the kind of damage that turns a simple lockout into an expensive repair. Modern cars lock in ways that punish improvisation.
Second: call us. Tell us where you are and what car it is. We'll give you an honest price and a realistic arrival time, then come and open it properly — with proper tools, without damage, usually within minutes of arriving.
If a child or pet is locked inside, call 999 first. Then call us. We'll treat it as the emergency it is.
How it usually happens
- Keys locked in the boot. The classic — you put the bags in, close it, and realise the keys went in with them.
- The fob battery died. No warning, just a car that won't respond. (We open it, and we can usually sort the fob too.)
- Central locking fault. The car locked itself and won't listen to reason. Electrical gremlins, not your fault.
- Doors auto-locked with keys inside. Some cars re-lock themselves if you don't open a door quickly enough. Infuriating, but common.
Whatever did it, the fix is the same: non-destructive entry by someone who does it every day.

Will you damage my car getting in?
No. We use non-destructive entry tools designed for the job — no broken windows, no bent doors, no scratched paint. If a car genuinely can't be opened without damage (rare), we'll tell you before we start, not after.
How fast can you get to me?
It depends where we are when you call and what the traffic's doing. We'll give you a realistic time on the phone — not a fantasy one. Once we're there, most lockouts are sorted within minutes.
My key fob just died. Can you still open it?
Yes. A dead fob battery doesn't stop us opening the car, and we can usually replace the battery or sort the fob while we're there.
Do I need to prove the car is mine?
Yes — photo ID, and ideally something linking you to the car. We check on every lockout. Any locksmith who doesn't check isn't one you want opening cars.
The car locked itself with the keys inside. Is that common?
Very. Plenty of cars auto-lock if a door isn't opened quickly, or the central locking develops a fault. It's not your fault, and it's a quick fix for us.
