Modern vehicles use sophisticated immobiliser systems to prevent theft. The heart of these systems is the transponder chip embedded in your car key. When the key is inserted or brought near the ignition, it broadcasts a unique encrypted code to the vehicle's immobiliser control unit.
If the code matches the one stored in the vehicle's ECU, the immobiliser disengages and allows the engine to start. If the code doesn't match — or if the chip is absent — the car simply won't start, even with a correctly cut key blade.
